Lakeland College – Lucius P. Chase Center for the Natural Sciences
Plymouth, Wisconsin

This building was the first major construction project of the college’s ongoing A Legacy for Lakeland campaign. The project was planned well over a year in advance so the construction schedule could be limited to summer break, a mere 16 weeks. The renovation included several new offices, a greenhouse addition, two new seating/study areas for students, and new lab fixtures and equipment.  Energy saving features were addressed, replacing the existing single-pane glazing with new double-pane, low-e, tinted glazing, adding three air lock entry vestibules, doubling the amount of roof insulation, and providing new, efficient heating equipment. The worn and dated interior was refreshed with new flooring, wall coverings, paint, and acoustic tile ceilings throughout the building, resulting in a greatly enhanced learning environment for Lakeland students.
